The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Cincinnati Bengals did not add a cornerback or, for that matter, any new secondary player with their six selections.

Now, they did make significant improvements on the defensive side of the field, adding Shemar Stewart with their first-round pick and Demetrius Knight in the second round.

They are making enhancing their secondary a priority in the undrafted free agent market, signing Shaquan Loyal, a safety from Rutgers. Loyal is a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back who spent all four seasons at Rutgers. The report is coming from Andrew DiCecco.

The Scarlet Knights standout had 77 tackles, one sack and two interceptions last season, also notching a career-best seven passes defended. He was an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

While Cincinnati’s clear needs were the offensive and defensive lines, depth was needed in its secondary, especially at safety after the enigmatic seasons Jordan Battle and Geno Stone just had.

Hopefully, Loyal can outperform and keep his spot well into the future.
