Summerville High School senior Jaden Cummings is the eighth annual Best of Prep Sports Football Player of the Year.
Cummings is a three-time all-region selection, two-time all-state selection and two-time all-lowcountry selection who has signed to play for the Dartmouth College football program. As a senior he was a team captain, played in the 2024 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South Football Game, was named 5A Region 8 Player of the Year and was a finalist for the prestigious Bridge Builder Excellence Award.
Cummings helped the Green Wave rip through the competition during the regular season and the team didn’t slow down much through the 5A, Division 1 playoffs. The team claimed a 35-6 victory over Sumter in the Lower State Championship game to advance to the state finals for the first time since 2007.
Summerville’s 13-game winning streak then ended with a 35-21 loss in the state-title game to Dutch Fork. Cumming completed 166 of 256 pass attempts during the season for 2,323 yards and 30 TDs while only throwing one interception. He rushed for 582 yards and 15 TDs.
Beyond his achievements on the field, Cummings maintains a 4.85 GPA while taking AP and Honors courses. He also gives back to his community by mentoring young athletes through local youth football programs and reading to elementary school students.
