On Saturday, the Goddard Rockets football team demolished the Portales Rams 41-6 in Portales. The Rockets deployed two quarterbacks: Izaiah Montoya (13), who had one rushing and two passing touchdowns, and Nate Vasquez (8), who had two passing touchdowns. Running back Zak Arrellano (21) had over 100 yards rushing, and another running back, Brady Gibbs (12) had a touchdown. Wide receiver Josiah Castillo had over 100 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Valdez (9) had the remaining receiving touchdown. The Rockets (1-0) travel to Carlsbad this Friday to face the Carlsbad Cavemen (0-1) at 7 p.m. for their next game.
