Around the NFL, 53-man rosters are now set, including for the Indianapolis Colts.
For the most part, things shook out as expected, but there were a couple of surprises. We also saw one undrafted rookie make the team as well.

Now, for a closer look at the current state of the Colts‘ overall roster, let’s take a position-by-position look at the 53-man with our takeaways from each group.
Quarterback (3)
Anthony Richardson, Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard
No surprises here. In each of the first two seasons under Shane Steichen, he has rostered three quarterbacks.
Running back (3)
Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Goodson, DJ Giddens
Goodson being on the roster is a good sign that his elbow injury, hopefully, won’t keep him sidelined much longer. Prior to the injury, he was clearly ahead of Khalil Herbert for the RB3 role.
Wide receivers (6)
Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, AD Mitchell, Anthony Gould, Ashton Dulin

We could have made this roster prediction back in March once Dulin was re-signed in free agency.
Tight end (4)
Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory
That fourth spot was the one up for grabs here and Mallory’s steady play throughout the summer earned him that receiving-first spot on the depth chart over Jelani Woods.
Offensive line (9)
Bernhard Raimann, Quenton Nelson, Tanor Bortolini, Matt Goncalves, Braden Smith, Dalton Tucker, Danny Pinter, Jalen Travis, Luke Tenuta
There was unknowns around the depth of the tackle position once Blake Freeland was injured, but Luke Tenuta stepped in for during the last week and a half of the preseason and performed well, earning a roster spot. Given the inexperience along the interior, I thought rostering Josh Sills for depth could have been in play.

Defensive line (11)
DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Adetomiwa Adebawore, Neville Gallimore, Kwity Paye, Laiatu Latu, Samson Ebukam, Tyquan Lewis, JT Tuimoloau, Tim Smith, Eric Johnson
Letting go of Isaiah Land couldn’t have been easy–he was dominant this summer. But it was a numbers game, and as the sixth defensive end, odds were that he was going to be inactive on Sundays more often than not.
I also didn’t expect to see both Johnson and Smith on the roster. Keeping one or the other seemed to make the most sense, given that there didn’t seem to be a ton of flashes from either this summer.
Linebackers (4)
Zaire Franklin, Cameron McGrone, Joe Bachie, Segun Olubi

We will see, but as I wrote about here, it feels like there is another move coming at linebacker.
I also thought Austin Ajiake would be on the team. He got a lot of opportunities this summer and was steadily ahead of Olubi on the depth chart during preseason games.  Lou Anarumo even mentioned him by name recently when discussing the linebacker rotation.
Cornerbacks (6)
Jaylon Jones, Charvarius Ward, Kenny Moore, Xavien Howard, Johnathan Edwards, Mekhi Blackmon
Chris Lammons had a really good preseason, but my guess is that getting him back on the practice squad would be easier than getting Johnathan Edwards back, and those elements do factor into decision-making.

When it comes to Brents, injuries have been an unfortunate part of his career. He’s appeared in 11 games over his first two seasons and missed most of training camp.
Safety (4)
Nick Cross, Cam Bynum, Rodney Thomas, Daniel Scott
After Hunter Wohler was placed on IR, Scott seized control of the backup strong safety role.
Special teams (3)
Spencer Shrader, Rigoberto Sanchez, Luke Rhodes
Again, no surprises here.
