Ravens, Bills put on A+ performance, Commanders stun Bucs

USA TODAY Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon breaks down all the games from Wild Card Weekend.

Sports Seriously

While the six other NFL playoff teams from the NFC play in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs this weekend, the Detroit Lions had a bye because they earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs thanks to their NFC-best 15-2 record in the regular season.

That gave them an extra week to rest and prepare for their opponent in the second round of the NFL postseason, the NFL divisional round.

But who will the Lions play in the NFL playoffs on either Saturday, Jan. 18?

It depended on who won the NFC wild-card games over the weekend.

Who will the Lions play in the NFL playoffs?

In the NFL postseason, matchups in the divisional round are based on seeding after the wild-card round, with the Lions set to face the lowest-remaining seed after this weekend’s games.

That means they will face the No. 6 Washington Commanders in the second round of the playoffs after Washington upset the No. 3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round.
