We understand the NFL’s desire to enforce player safety. We have all also long known that one of the best ways to improve at football is by playing football. Each team must find its balance. The Baltimore Ravens are among the best at doing so, yet when it came to the development of rookie Mike Green, the decision was made. The goal was to baptise him with as much on-field time as possible.
Head coach John Harbaugh has recently spoken about the team’s culture. It’s one of the best in all of professional football, both in how it treats its players and how it prepares them.

Stars love playing here. Rookie Mike Green will get his first experience in doing so this season, and by the looks of things, he should be fully aware of what his role in this defense is.
Mike Green saw a healthy preseason workload, and that should be music to the ears of Baltimore Ravens fans.
Mike Green saw fewer snaps per contest as the Ravens marched through their preseason slate of games. He played 33 snaps vs. the Indianapolis Colts before enjoying 21 snaps vs. the Dallas Cowboys. In the finale vs. the Washington Commanders, he was on the field for 16 snaps. The stat line wasn’t overwhelming: five tackles and zero sacks, but his coaches were impressed as he showcased some of the skills that once made him a first-round prospect.
The competition he’ll face in the AFC North is a long way from anything he experienced with the Virginia Cavaliers or Marshall Thundering Herd. Still, if early indications are telling of what to expect, he’s going to make a name for himself with a solid Ravens debut.

The best part about all of this is that the Ravens don’t need to put pressure on him early. He’ll be a part of what should be an impressive pass-rushing rotation, but Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh should eat up most of the snaps as they figure to start at the edge.
