Campbell, an undrafted rookie from South Carolina, had good numbers in camp with the Chargers this summer.

In three preseason games with the Chargers, he caught seven passes for 135 yards (19.3 per reception).

Campbell played three years at Illinois and two at Nevada before finishing at South Carolina last year, where he caught 12 passes for 312 yards (26.0 per reception).

The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder ran a 4.42-second 40-yard dash at the Gamecocks’ pro day.

Last year, the Panthers claimed six players off waivers on the first day, when they had the first spot in claim order. None remain on the current roster, but three were part of Tuesday’s cuts to the initial 53-man roster.
