Sometimes, the rich get richer, and when teams are in the hunt, it’s sometimes tempting to take a gander at what possible roadblocks are doing. The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business with a perfect 4-0 march vs. the AFC North competition last season. Still, as another campaign approaches, there are whispers that, if Philadelphia can reach football’s biggest game again in 2026, they may find the Baltimore Ravens waiting on them when they arrive in Santa Clara.

Philadelphia and Baltimore are mirror images of each other: great quarterbacks, great coaching, elite offensive talent, and scary young defensive wizardry. Like the Eagles, the Ravens were forced to part with some great players during final preseason roster cuts. One of those cuts, a promising safety, has found his way to an NFC East rival.

Following great training camp and preseason showings from two phenomenal undrafted rookie free agents, Baltimore decided to part ways with a promising young star, safety Beau Brade. They instead keep Reuben Lowery. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis was waived in favor of Keyon Martin.

Davis and Brade weren’t out in the cold for long. The Tennessee Titans acquired the former. Brade lands in the NFC East. He has been claimed off waivers by the New York Giants less than 24 hours after being informed of his release.

Brade doesn’t have an extensive resume. 11 in-game appearances for the Ravens last season led to 11 defensive snaps and another 207 on special teams. Three tackles were the extent of his efforts, but, at the beginning of training camp, he was again expected to make Baltimore’s roster.

This may not shift the NFC East’s balance of power, as Philly has had New York’s number for a long time. Thanks to former G-Men like Saquon Barkley, Azeez Ojulari, and Adoree’ Jackson, the Eagles are expected to sweep their longtime rival again.

Big Blue looks a little different, however, as they have added three new quarterbacks: Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart. Wilson and Winston are there for veteran leadership. Dart is the future, but for now, Philadelphia’s top threat to divisional superiority appears to be the Washington Commanders. Don’t overlook the Giants, though. They’re finally making some strides.
