Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward, whom the team chose first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, was named one of the team’s captains during a dinner Wednesday night.

Other captains in addition to Ward are wide receiver Calvin Ridley and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, running back Tony Pollard, linebacker Cody Barton, safety Amani Hooker and long snapper Morgan Cox, the team announced.

Each of those players will wear a “C” on their jerseys, with stars beneath that letter to signify how man years they have served in such a capacity. Simmons’ “C” will be gold in recognition of the five or more years he will have served in the role.

Do Cam Ward and Jeffery Simmons get along?

Ward and Simmons made headlines recently when they got into a physical altercation during training camp, a scuffle that Ward characterized as something the team “needed.”

When asked what he learned from it, Ward resorted to humor at first.

“Did I learn anything from it?” Ward said. “Jeff is strong as (expletive).”

“That’s me and Jeff’s relationship.

“It was fun at the same time. I think it was what we needed, though. We love competing, especially me and Jeff. I’m excited to have that man as my teammate. I can’t wait to see what he does on Sundays.”

According to FOX Sports, Ward is under a four-year contract that guarantees him $48.75 million, with a fifth-year team option.
