Robert James played college football for Fisk University and for the NFL Buffalo Bills. James, who grew up in Murfreesboro became a three-time Pro Bowler.
Former Tennessee Titans star running back Eddie George is off the schneid as a college football coach.
George led Bowling Green to a 26-7 win over Lafayette on Aug. 28 at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio. He is in his first year coaching the Falcons after leading Tennessee State to a 24-22 record between 2021-24. He led Tennessee State to a 9-4 record in 2024.
The Falcons held a 17-0 halftime lead and a 20-0 lead in the second half before the Leopards finally got on the board in the third quarter.
Bowling Green out-gained Lafayette 265-177 for the game. Drew Pyne completed 12 of 18 passes for 109 yards, while Kaderris Roberts had 12 rushes for 66 yards.
The Falcons will face a much tougher challenge next week when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Sept. 6.
George played college football at Ohio State from 1992-95 before being drafted No. 14 overall in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers, winning Rookie of the Year honors in 1996. He was the Oilers/Tennessee Titans starting running back until 2003 and never missed a start.
George officially announced his retirement in 2006 and finished his career with 2,865 carries for 10,441 yards and 68 touchdowns to go along with 268 catches for 2,227 yards and 10 scores.
