ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — As the Washington Commanders gear up for their season opener at home against the New York Giants, the team is taking a well-deserved three-day break for the holiday weekend after a full practice session on Thursday.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, entering his second NFL season, is optimistic, especially with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin back on the field.

“I think it’s just two people just getting along. I would say I’m very easygoing, very relatable and I like to have fun, and a lot of people like to have that,” Daniels said. “So, obviously especially on the football field, just going out there and just showing the work, the type of person we are on and off the field. And I would say probably the main thing is both our faith.”
The Commanders’ offense, led by Daniels, is expected to be a formidable force in the 2025 season. With the addition of players like Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil, the unit has strengthened, building on an already impressive performance from last season.
Daniels has developed a strong working relationship with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. “Yeah, most definitely just our trust within each other to want to win and obviously put the best product out there but I think that kind of built over more last year,” Daniels said. “But even this year, like I’ll tell him like, I’d rather, I think I’d rather do this than that. He would just go with it because at the end of the day, we both want to win. We both want to put the best product out there and execute a high level.”
With game week approaching, the Commanders are hopeful for a sccessful season that could culminate in a Super Bowl appearance.
