LeBron James believes Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson will win the 2025 NFL MVP award.

Ahead of the upcoming season, shockwaves were sent out across the league on Thursday night when it was revealed the Green Bay Packers had acquired linebacker Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys. The deal, which included Green Bay giving up two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, also saw Parsons land a monstrous four-year $188 million contract with the Packers, which includes $120 million fully guaranteed.

But, while Green Bay will now hope the trade for Parsons vaults them into Super Bowl contention, so much about the 2025 season is unknown, especially when it comes to the Cowboys. However, speaking in a promotional video for DraftKings, four-time NBA MVP James gave his thoughts on how the season will unfold.

“That’s a good question,” said James when asked for his sleeper team this season. “I was correct about the Commanders being a sleeper team. They cannot be a sleeper team after last year so, Cleveland Browns.

He continued: “Super Bowl prediction? I’m going Eagles v Chiefs again. I mean you’ve got the best two teams, best player in the whole NFL in Pat Mahomes and I think he wants some get-back so I got Eagles v Chiefs. Nah, I ain’t got no winner right now. I got no winner right now but I hope it’s a good a– game.”

And then attention turned to who James believes will be named the NFL’s MVP for the 2025 season. “My MVP of the year, this year? I’m taking Lamar Jackson.”

Another MVP award for Jackson would see him become a three-time NFL MVP, which would see him move level with Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Jim Brown, and Johnny Unitas when it comes to winning the prestigious honor.

Only Aaron Rodgers (four) and Peyton Manning (five) have won more MVP awards. Last season, Jackson was close to winning his third award, only to be beaten out by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Jackson and the Ravens had their season ended in January when they were beaten by the Bills 27-25, in a game which saw tight end Mark Andrews drop what would have been a game-tying two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter.

However, following the game, Jackson and Allen, who were both drafted in the first round back in 2018, gave one another their flowers. “We competing, don’t get me wrong, but hats off to him and hats off to me – that’s what he said to me,” said Jackson after the game.

He continued: “You know, great players recognize greatness and we both recognized each other. But I told him, ‘Man, go get some, go win something. MVP, Super Bowl, do something.’ I want him to be successful.”

Allen was just as complimentary toward Jackson. “I have nothing but love for Lamar,” Allen said.

“He’s one of the greatest to put a uniform on and play in the NFL. Honored to share the field with him.”
