The Titans bolstered their depth on the defensive line Wednesday by bringing back an effective reserve player from last season’s team.
Tennessee is re-signing defensive tackle James Lynch to a one-year deal, per the NFL Network.
The 6-4, 295-pound Lynch played in all 17 games for the Titans last season, totaling 245 defensive snaps and recording 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hits and two passes defensed last season.
He had season highs of four tackles on two occasions in 2024, once in a September win over Miami and again in the Titans’ season-ending loss to Houston.
Lynch, 26, will add manpower to a Titans’ defensive line that was thin on experience behind the top three of Jeffery Simmons, T’Vondre Sweat and Sebastian Joseph-Day. Other Titans reserves at defensive line include Abdullah Anderson and Keondre Coburn.
Originally a fourth-round draft pick of Minnesota in 2020, Lynch registered a career high for games played last season. He posted a 60.1 overall defensive grade, per Pro Football Focus, 60.7 against the run and 56.2 as a pass rusher.
The 2024 season was Lynch’s first after he suffered a torn ACL while with the Vikings in August 2023, forcing him to miss the entire year.
