No. 3 Ohio State defeated No. 1-ranked Texas 14-7 on Saturday, and we’re looking at the top 2026 NFL draft prospects for the Eagles to monitor in 2025
Okay, so it didn’t turn out to be the fireworks show that most of us expected, but scouts from every NFL team were certainly paying attention. The Philadelphia Eagles have benefited lately by employing a wise strategy. Draft the best players from the best teams. That being said, the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the Texas Longhorns clash will be discussed and dissected for months.
Two offenses that were expected to dominate combined for 21 points. Arch Manning wasn’t sharp, and that’s being kind. Though Ohio State came out on top and will now probably take up residency as the nation’s top-ranked team, these are two legitimate contenders who will improve all season.
The Eagles should take an interest in the following Buckeyes and Longhorns
We’re a long way from serious discussions about the 2026 NFL Draft, but Philadelphia is already doing its homework. Here’s some unsolicited advice. Place the following names on the draft board if they aren’t on there already.
Quintrevion Wisner, Texas, running back
Quintrevion Wisner continues the tradition of great tailbacks who played at Texas. A Third-Team All-SEC nod last season, he figures to be among the top five running backs who will be available in the 2026 NFL Draft next April.
Stats on Saturday: Wisner had 16 carries for 80 yards (5.0 avg) and added one catch for five yards on the afternoon.
Carnell Tate, Ohio State, wide receiver
The most exciting highlight of the Buckeyes’ first week of action was a bomb that landed in the arms of Carnell Tate. Jeremiah Smith receives a great deal of attention, and rightfully so, but make no mistake. Tate is no slouch and a first-round talent.
Stats on Saturday: Tate had two catches for 49 yards (24.5 avg) and one explosive 40-yard touchdown catch.
Max Klare, Ohio State, tight end
Max Klare only caught one pass, but it went for 11 yards and a first down. He transfers from the Purdue Boilermakers and figures to be more involved in the passing attack as the season wears on.
Ethan Onianwa, Ohio State, offensive tackle
Philadelphia didn’t trust its offensive tackles and thus brought Fred Johnson back. Ethan Onianwa would give them another prospect for the future.
Kenyatta Jackson, EDGE, Ohio State
Kenyatta Jackson is a six-foot-six, 265-pound senior. Though he didn’t register a sack in Week 1, he figures to finish among the top five to ten prospects at his position after rotating behind Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau in 2024.
Stats on Saturday: Jackson had three tackles on the afternoon.
Beau Atkinson, EDGE, Ohio State
It wasn’t Beau Atkinson’s best game, but he is still someone to watch. He’s a transfer from the North Carolina Tar Heels who should shine under the bright lights in Columbus.
Stats on Saturday: Atkinson finished with two tackles on the afternoon.
Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State
Davison Igbinosun led the Buckeyes with an impressive ten tackles in Week 1. He also broke up a pass to help lead the way to victory.
Caleb Downs, safety, Ohio State
This may be the best safety in the country, one whose career could end with back-to-back College Football Playoff Championship Game wins. Caleb Downs was a Unanimous All-American in 2024 and figures to receive the same honor in 2025. He would immediately challenge Andrew Mukuba and Sydney Brown for playing time.
Stats on Saturday: Downs finished with five tackles.
Anthony Hill Jr, linebacker, Texas
There may not be a better linebacker in the country than Anthony Hill. He can play both inside and outside and should earn All-SEC honors at season’s end.
Stats on Saturday: Hill had six tackles on the afternoon.
 Sonny Styles, linebacker, Ohio State
Five tackles were the result of Sonny Styles’ efforts in Week 1. He began to play up to his potential last season, collecting 100 tackles and six sacks. He’s a six-foot-four, 230-pounder with no physical flaws. He is certainly pro-ready.
