Hunter Renfrow’s NFL journey has taken another turn, and this time it keeps him in Carolina.

Just days after being released during final roster cuts, the Panthers are bringing back the former Clemson star, according to multiple reports. The move comes after rookie receiver Jalen Coker was placed on injured reserve, opening up a spot on the active roster.

Renfrow originally signed with Carolina in April as he worked his way back from missing all of last season while receiving treatment for ulcerative colitis. The 29-year-old wideout saw limited action this preseason, catching four passes for 12 yards, but drew positive reviews in camp before a hamstring injury slowed him down.

A fifth-round pick of the Raiders in 2019, Renfrow spent five seasons in Las Vegas and put together a Pro Bowl campaign in 2021 with 103 catches, 1,038 yards, and nine touchdowns. He has 269 career receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 scores at the NFL level.

Before his pro career, Renfrow cemented his place as a Clemson legend from 2014-18, walking on to the program and helping the Tigers win two national championships. He finished his college career with 186 receptions, 2,133 yards, and 15 touchdowns, earning the Burlsworth Award in 2018 as the nation’s top former walk-on.

Now, he’ll get another opportunity to contribute at the next level, this time staying in the Carolinas.
