Veteran Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is preparing for his 18th NFL season after an injury-filled training camp. The team just confirmed he was cleared and will start Week 1 against the Houston Texans.

Back at home, Stafford and his wife, Kelly, have four daughters: Sawyer, Chandler, Hunter, and Tyler. Sawyer and Chandler, the oldest, are twins.

Kelly Stafford hosts a podcast called ‘The Morning After,’ where she regularly discusses being an NFL wife, life around the house, and football-related news. In her most recent episode, alongside co-host Hank Winchester, Stafford admitted she’s been “struggling” intensively with one of her children and doesn’t “recognize” them anymore, though she didn’t name which one (but she did specify it wasn’t Tyler).

“One of my daughters, I have been very, very much struggling with. Matthew as well. She has become a little girl that I don’t recognize. Right now, I’m trying to be mild with it,” Stafford admitted. “Disrespecting coaches and not listening, giving attitude, walking away while they’re talking to her.

“[One day] Tyler looks at her and said, ‘Wow, you look really pretty in that outfit.’ So sweet. “And [my other daughter] turned to her, and she looked her up and down, I watched her, and she goes, ‘You look gross.'”

Stafford and the four children are mainstays at Los Angeles games, often appearing in custom merch designed by Kelly in support of Matthew.

The pair met at the University of Georgia in 2006 while Matthew was the star quarterback and Kelly was a cheerleader. They were married in 2015.

The Staffords lived in Detroit for the first 13 years of his NFL career from 2008 to 2020 as Matthew piloted the Lions, setting every franchise passing record along the way.

He moved to the Rams in 2021 in a stunning swap for fellow quarterback Jared Goff and swiftly led his new team to a Super Bowl win in his first season.

Stafford, now 37, has been nursing a sore back throughout training camp but is finally back in practice and ready to suit up. “Backs are sometimes interesting things,” he told reporters earlier this week

“It’s not cut and dry what’s what and how you’re going to feel, so I really appreciate our team and our head coach and everybody taking a day-to-day approach with me doing everything they can to try and help me out.”
