Despite missing her 18th consecutive game with a right groin injury, Caitlin Clark saw some familiar faces sitting courtside during Sunday night’s Indiana Fever game against the Golden State Valkyries from the Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif.
One of those familiar faces happened to be Iowa football legend and current San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, along with his wife Claire, who were sitting beside Kyle and Kristen Juszczyk.
Kittle is entering his ninth NFL season with the 49ers after the franchise took the dynamic tight end in the fifth round (No. 146 overall) of the 2017 NFL draft. Kittle also signed a four-year extension with the team to remain in the Bay Area through the 2029 NFL season.
Former Iowa women’s basketball teammate Gabbie Marshall was also seen sitting alongside her boyfriend, former Iowa basketball guard Spencer Touro, just a few seats away from where Clark was situated on the Indiana Fever bench.
In addition, current Iowa forward Jada Gyamfi tagged along as a separate and coincidental surprise visit to Marshall in San Francisco.
As for Marshall, the former Hawkeye announced her retirement from basketball following her fifth season in 2024, opting instead to pursue her Master’s degree in occupational therapy.
Following the game, Marshall, Gyamfi, Clark, and Valkyries guard Kate Martin all gathered for a group photo commemorating the occasion.
For Clark and the Fever, the team will need to regroup following their 75-63 loss to Golden State on Sunday, as they travel to Phoenix to take on the Mercury on Tuesday night with only four regular-season games remaining.
