There are still many ways for the New England Patriots to improve during the offseason. The Patriots have put together a much better roster than they had a year ago, and with a better coaching staff and a hopeful year two leap for quarterback Drake Maye, things are starting to look bright in New England.

Searching for a way for the Patriots to improve, Bleacher Report’s Christopher Knox proposed a trade idea to see them land Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet.

The Bears selected Michigan tight end Colston Loveland with the tenth overall pick. While Kmet could be a decent veteran for them, especially after Caleb Williams struggled a bit in his rookie season, Loveland seems to be the guy moving forward.

“Kmet has three years left on his contract with cap hits of $11.6 million in each season. Chicago might not want to pay that much for a No. 2 tight end.

“The New England Patriots should be interested in Kmet if he becomes available. They need to put pass-catchers around second-year quarterback Drake Maye, and Kmet could be a long-term option for them at tight end,” he wrote.

The Patriots’ weapons have improved during the offseason, but they’re still far away from where they need to be. With Stefon Diggs potentially missing the beginning stages of the season, adding somebody like Kmet could make sense if he becomes available from the Bears.

He finished with 474 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Prior to that, he posted over 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, one of the lone bright spots for Chicago.
