The Indianapolis Colts released their second injury report of Week 1, and it again included only one player.

The lone player on the injury report this week is running back Tyler Goodson, who sustained an elbow injury in the Colts’ Week 2 preseason game against Green Bay.

Goodson has, however, practiced the first two days in a limited capacity, which means all 53 players on the Colts’ roster have been on the practice field leading up to their matchup with Miami.

Jonathan Taylor will, of course, be leading the way at running back for the Colts. But something that GM Chris Ballard mentioned during the offseason is wanting more production out of the backup running back role.

Rookie DJ Giddens impressed this summer and may eventually see the bulk of those RB2 carries, not to mention that he can help out in the passing game. However, when healthy, I would anticipate Goodson is a part of that backup mix as well, especially early on as Giddens continues to get acclimated.

On the practice squad at running back for the Colts in the event that Goodson can’t go on Sunday are Khalil Herbert and Ulysses Bentley, one of whom could be a game-day elevation to provide depth at the position.

We will find out on Friday afternoon what Goodson’s final injury designation is.
