Second Train To Pats Game Will Be Available, MBTA Says

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA announced on Thursday that for the first time, it will be offering a second round-trip train service between South Station and Foxboro for fans in need of transportation to Patriots games.

More than 1,200 riders will be able to catch a ride to four New England Patriots home games this season.

For home games on Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Sept. 28, and Dec. 14, the new Boston train will depart at 10 a.m. from South Station. Trains start leaving Gillette Stadium 30 minutes after the games end.

All train tickets are available for sale on the MBTA mTicket app, and more information can be found on their website here.

utility work, but crews left unpaved lanes to the curb, and the work doesn’t extend to Davis Square. Now the city wants to add two-way protected bike lanes by 2030, although some cyclists avoid the area altogether. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"It’s not good. It’s not a pleasant street to bike on. I avoid biking on this street at all costs as like someone who doesn’t have a car," another resident stated.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The city council recently passed a resolution demanding answers from the mayor’s office on the delays surrounding the project.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"The issue with the Highland Ave redesign is that where we stand is nowhere," City Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen, who pushed for the resolution, told WBZ NewsRadio. "There has been absolutely no movement or progress on redesigning this street for years. Back in 2019, 2020, the city made a public, clear commitment that we were going to redesign Highland Ave. We were going to make it safe for cyclists, for pedestrians, for people who take the T, and there have been a number of public meetings, a number of public commitments, and yet here we are, four or five years later, nothing has been done. There are no plans as far as I can tell. We’re just kind of sitting in purgatory."\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>When asked about last year’s repaving that was not followed up on, Ewen-Campen said, "The point of doing the partial repaving was that we were going to launch a robust community process to actually redesign and rebuild Highland Ave, so you don’t want to dump a bunch of money into a massive paving project now that’s just going to get ripped up. The issue is that we don’t actually seem to be doing that redesign process now, so basically what we have is a kind of temporary fix for part of Highland Ave, and no clear timeline for when we’re going to get a Highland Ave that’s actually safe."\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>On what Somerville residents can do about the situation, the councilor said, "People should reach out to their elected officials and let them know that this is a really top priority, and that we can’t keep just kicking the can down the road. I’ve been having these conversations for years. Every couple years, it is reaffirmed to that this is a priority, that the urgency is heard and felt by the administration. Thursday for the 2025-2026 school year: The Carter School in Roxbury, The Sarah Roberts Elementary School in Roslindale, and The PJ Kennedy School in East Boston.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The City of Named in memory of the first school desegregation lawsuit in the United States, students pre-K through sixth grade will walk through the halls of the new Sarah Roberts Elementary School.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"Which has merged the former Sumner and Philbrick communities," Wu said. it. It’ll be set on fire and burned to the ground on Sept. 12.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Sculptor Adela Goldbard was commissioned to build the boat as part of the \u003ca href=\”https://www.thetriennial.org/adela-goldbard?utm_source=bside.beehiiv.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=the-bpl-looks-a-little-different\” target=\”_blank\”>Boston Public Art Triennial\u003c/a>.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"We’re using traditional Mexican-style pyrotechnics," Goldbard said. "And so this is kind of a festive but also battle-like scene, [a] theatrical scene, where the ship is going to be burned in effigy.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>According to the BPAT, the sculpture is a quarter-scale replica of a colonial-era sailing ship made out of invasive reeds. The three-part performance on Sept. 12 will represent "a fictionalized ‘first encounter’ between Indigenous people and European colonists."\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Goldbard said the performance is not as risky as it might seem. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"The pyrotechnician that we hired for this project is very professional," Goldbard said. "He has worked other times on different projects in the Boston area, so he knows everything about regulations.
