The Eagles showed championship grit and the ability to literally weather the storm in a season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field. Vic Fangio’s revamped defense looked out of sorts early, but stayed aggressive and made enough plays to hold the Cowboys to just two rushing touchdowns in the first half.
On offense, the Cowboys defense took away A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but Jalen Hurts made the plays presented to him, rushing for two touchdowns on plays where Eagles‘ pass catchers were blanketed entirely. It was Kevin Patullo’s debut as the offensive coordinator, and it presents an opportunity for growth and positive reaction as the Birds look to keep their dynamic duo of pass catchers engaged and happy.
