The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will head into Sunday’s divisional opener against the Atlanta Falcons missing several key players, according to the final injury report released Friday.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle), safety Christian Izien (oblique), left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee), and cornerback Benjamin Morrison (quad) have all been ruled out for the Week 1 matchup. Morrison missed the entire preseason due to a quad injury and rejoined practices this week. However, it sounds like this move is one of precaution, as Bowles stated that if it were a playoff game, he would be active. Godwin Jr remains out as he recovers from surgery, as does Wirfs, although it’s been hinted that he returns sooner rather than later. Izien is still sidelined with an oblique injury suffered in the preseason.

Nose tackle Vita Vea, who did not practice earlier in the week due to a foot issue, was a full participant on Friday and is officially listed as questionable. His availability will be closely watched leading up to kickoff, as his presence in the middle is critical to the Bucs’ run defense against Atlanta’s ground-heavy attack.

Linebacker Lavonte David did not practice on Thursday, but it was designated as a veteran rest day. He is expected to play without limitations.

On the positive side, several Bucs returned to full participation and are expected to be available, including:

Haason Reddick (pectoral)

With Wirfs out, the Buccaneers’ offensive line will need to lean on extra protection and quick-release passing to keep Baker Mayfield upright. Godwin’s absence will also push more targets toward Mike Evans, rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson, as well as tight end Cade Otton.

Defensively, losing both Izien and Morrison weakens Tampa Bay’s depth in the secondary, especially against an Atlanta offense featuring dynamic rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. and a revamped receiving corps. The Bucs may still get a boost if Vea is cleared to play, but heading into Week 1, they’ll need to overcome a battered roster to escape Atlanta with a win.
