Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders once again reminded everybody of his remarkable character with a heartwarming gesture for a young fan.
Back in July, Shedeur Sanders held a fundraiser to help locals affected by a fire and explosion at the Rainbow Terrace Apartments in Cleveland. The fire left more than 100 people displaced, so Sanders took the time to organize and support the people in need.
Now, a video has surfaced of Sanders providing a young fan with a special “Sweet 16” birthday gift she’ll never forget. Justin Turner, a doctor in Jackson, Mississippi, shared a video of Sanders wishing his daughter, Layla, a happy birthday.

Say what you want about Sanders as a quarterback, and criticize the countless media coverage all you want, but there’s no questioning his character.
Many fans were disappointed when the Browns named 40-year-old Joe Flacco the starting quarterback over Shedeur Sanders. In another surprise, fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel was named the No. 2 quarterback behind Sanders.
The Browns kick off their 2025 season at home against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Shedeur Sanders Has To Wait Patiently For His Opportunity
One of the biggest storylines of the 2025 NFL offseason was Sanders’ stunning fall in the draft. The Colorado product was expected to be an early first-round pick, but he somehow fell down to Cleveland in round five at No. 144 overall.
It’s obviously frustrating that Shedeur Sanders has to back up a 40-year-old journeyman and a less-talented rookie to begin his career. But Sanders just has to continue to put in the work and wait patiently for his opportunity, whether that comes with the Browns or another organization.
Remember, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Kurt Warner, and Brett Favre didn’t get to play much as rookies. And they turned out just fine.
