Just days from their regular season opener, excitement surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers has reached unimaginable levels — but a critical take from NFL legend Kurt Warner may have soured the mood in the Steel City.

On Thursday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Warner shared his expectations for the Steelers’ 2025 season — believing they haven’t made enough moves this offseason to compete with the AFC’s upper echelon.

“I think that they’re going to win a lot of games — but I don’t know if they’ve made the moves or if Aaron is at the point where he can push them over the top,” Warner said. “On our preview show, the Steelers were the team I kicked out of the playoffs. Even though I believe they’re gonna be a better team than they were last year, I kicked them out of the playoffs. Just because, when I look at the AFC, and I look at the talent there, and I look at their division, they’re gonna be a good, solid football team — but I don’t think they’re gonna be a great football team.”

If the offseason acquisitions of QB Aaron Rodgers, TE Jonnu Smith, WR DK Metcalf, and CB Jalen Ramsey — coupled with one of the best 2025 NFL Draft hauls in the league — aren’t enough to garner support for Pittsburgh’s playoff aspirations, nothing will.

The Steelers have the opportunity to put Warner’s doubts to bed in their regular season kickoff against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 7, at 1:00 p.m. ET — which you can learn more about how to watch here.
