Chicago Bears insider Tyler Dunne has suggested that Caleb Williams may have a learning disability ahead of the quarterback’s second season in the NFL.

Williams was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 Draft, with the Bears’ selection coming as no surprise after his forays in college, which included a Heisman Trophy haul.

Still, his acquisition didn’t do much to improve the team’s fortunes. In fact, they got worse, going from 7-10 the previous season to 5-12 in his rookie campaign.

Dunne, who joined the ‘CHGO Bears Podcast’ this week, has implied that the quarterback is facing some unique struggles as he may have a learning disability.

“Without giving too much away, there were some major red flags that came up through the pre-draft process that, frankly, just were not discussed at all in draft meetings,” Dunne said. “Whether it is a potential learning disability that the coaches got into, that scouts got into, that they could see.”

Williams, who went viral for a bizarre moment he had in practice during the offseason, is also the subject of a column by the journalist titled ‘House of Dysfunction, Part I: The Curious Case of Caleb Williams’ in which he claims the QB’s coaches from last season opened up on “a season from hell.”

“Williams struggled to execute elementary tasks. Every day was a new disaster,” he pens in the piece, noting that the Bears changed the snap count to appease the player, going from a combination of numbers and colors to “Ready, set, go!”

“Veterans couldn’t believe it. “Are you s**tting me?” one receiver asked a coach,” Dunne writes.

The piece also claims that Williams would stare at his wristband for “a painful length of time” when a new play call was sent in.

“Williams verbalized the call in the huddle, it was wrong half the time, and then players would be lined up wrong all over the field. Verbiage was truncated. Huddling was minimized. The playbook, dumbed down. The Bears offense devolved into an exercise of trial and error to fit whatever the USC rookie demanded.”

Williams raised eyebrows yet again, ahead of the Bears’ opener against the Minnesota Vikings, after he was seen cuddling with someone else this week.

It will be interesting to see how he does in Year 2.
