If one thing is clear after evaluating talent in the NFL Draft, it’s that the NFL is an evolving game. When I first began covering the NFL Draft over a decade ago, undersized defensive prospects were dropping down the draft board. Nowadays, they’re almost preferred.
Suntarine Perkins is likely to measure in just shy of 6’3″ at the NFL Combine. While he’s below average for NFL linebackers, he does fit well in terms of edge rushers. His playing weight is on the lighter side of the spectrum, so he’ll need to add to his frame in the offseason as he prepares for the draft cycle.
Last season, Perkins had a breakout game against Oklahoma, putting himself on the map. He finished the matchup with four sacks, including 11 combined tackles, according to Sports Reference. As a result, he’s been able to make a name for himself as draft analysts and scouts rolled through their summer scouting.
Ole Miss’s Suntarine Perkins might be my favorite prospect I watched all summer. Can’t remember someone his size (6-1, 210) playing on the line of scrimmage in a major conference and still being a difference maker.

Currently, Suntarine Perkins sits as a day two prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. He excels at locating the ball in traffic and attacking with quickness. Our own Brian Bosarge ranked Suntarine Perkins as the 7th overall Linebacker in his 2026 NFL Draft rankings.
There is still an eternity of football left to play this season. However, the future is bright for Perkins. The Ole Miss Rebels don’t have the easiest schedule in the SEC this season, but a solid performance from the junior linebacker could do wonders to propel his draft stock forward.
