CHARLOTTE — Bill Belichick confirmed that New England Patriots scouts are “not welcome” at UNC football’s facilities.

“It’s clear that I’m not welcome there, around their facility,” Belichick said after the Tar Heels‘ 20-3 win at Charlotte on Sept. 6. “So, they’re not welcome in ours. Pretty simple.”

The 73-year-old coach, who won six Super Bowl championships as head coach of the Patriots, was asked about the banning-scouts situation after he won his first game as a college football coach. Belichick spent 24 seasons in New England before the two parties decided to “mutually part ways” at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

There were NFL scouts on site for UNC vs. Charlotte at Jerry Richardson Stadium, representing the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. Belichick’s Tar Heels (1-1) had a second-half shutout in their victory against the Niners (1-1), doing so in front of a record-breaking crowd of 19,233.
