MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — The Miami Dolphins kick off their 2025 season on Sunday in Indianapolis against the Colts, a game you could watch on CBS12 News. While it’s only Week 1, there’s already a must-win mentality. The urgency comes from the fact that after today, the Dolphins face a tough three-game stretch against AFC East opponents that could define their season early.

Miami will lean heavily on its big-play weapons as Tyreek Hill, De’Von Achane, and Jaylen Waddle are all expected to suit up after battling injuries during the preseason. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa enters the year with one priority above all—staying healthy. After missing a large portion of last season due to an early-season concussion, Tagovailoa knows a full slate under center is crucial to the Dolphins’ playoff hopes.

The Dolphins’ backfield will also have a fresh look. With Jalen Wright sidelined, rookie Ollie Gordon II will get his first chance to make an impact, playing behind Achane. On the defensive side, Miami’s thinned-out cornerback unit will be tested against a Colts receiving corps led by Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. Second-year standout Storm Duck will shoulder much of the responsibility in the secondary as he looks to keep Indianapolis’ playmakers in check.

Kickoff is set for 1 PM Sunday on CBS12 News. Be sure to tune back in at 11 PM for Fins Fever Final, where we’ll bring you locker room interviews and a complete breakdown of how the Dolphins fared in their season opener.
