All it took was one touch of an NFL football in live action for former Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo to make an impression.

Specifically, a lasting physical impression on three Washington Commanders defenders.

On first-and-10 with Giants quarterback Russell Wilson in the shotgun, Skattebo caught a quick screen pass on the far right side and let the incoming pursuers have it.

And he ultimately turned a two-yard gain into six.

It’s like the hard-nosed runner picked up right where he left off in the Peach Bowl with the Sun Devils. And Skattebo had already flashed his professional potential at New York’s training camp.

However, early into the second quarter, Skattebo had no success on his first two carries, with them logging negative yardage.

Later on the same drive where he made his first career NFL catch, Skattebo was neutralized on second-and-goal from the Washington 1-yard line, losing a yard.

In a 21-6 Giants loss, Skattebo closed with two catches for 12 yards and didn’t record another carry.

His smashing-heads mentality will have to wait just a bit longer on the ground.
