49ers kicker Jake Moody has been the subject of much ire from the Faithful during his tenure with San Francisco.

That tension resurfaced during the 49ers’ 17-13 Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, when Moody missed a short field-goal attempt and had another blocked.

But star edge rusher Nick Bosa isn’t giving up on his kicker, just like his head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“I’m always supportive of a guy who’s struggling,” Bosa told reporters postgame. “Obviously, that position is very cut and dry, whether you’re getting it done or not.

“I’ll never turn on a teammate.”

Moody managed to recover from his two earlier misses by making a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, which tied the game at 10. He also converted both PATs he attempted, including after Jake Tonges’ game-winning touchdown catch with 1:34 to go.

However, it’s still a rough start to the season for the 49ers’ former third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Moody made only 24 of his 34 (70.6%) field-goal attempts in 2024, well below the league average of 84%.

Though pressure certainly continues to mount for Moody, the 49ers clearly hope these endorsements of their kicker will help him return to form.
