On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers found themselves in a shootout with the New York Jets. There were some incredible individual performances on the Steelers that helped gut out the 34-32 win. There were also some performances that threatened to cost the Steelers this big Week One win. Here is our stock up/stock down from the first game of the season.

Stock up – QB Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers went off and showed no rust at all en route to a four passing touchdown game against his old team.

Stock down – RB Jaylen Warren

Warren finished with a modest 37 rushing yards on 11 carries, and until the fourth quarter, was working on the field less than backup Kenneth Gainwell.

Stock up – WR Calvin Austin III

All we have heard is how ready Calvin Austin III is to be the starter in Pittsburgh, and he showed up on Sunday with four catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Stock down – WR Roman Wilson

The debut of Roman Wilson will have to wait another week as he didn’t get a single target on Sunday.

Stock up – TE Jonnu Smith

After missing much of the preseason with an injury, Smith came out and got an easy touchdown that showcased his versatility.

Stock down – OT Broderick Jones

Jones was taking plenty of Ls on Sunday as he looked lost for much of the game. Jones allowed three sacks and was overpowered and outmatched all game long.

Stock up – S Chuck Clark

Props to Clark for coming in and taking over for DeShon Elliott without missing a beat. The veteran brings the same type of energy and physicality as Elliott and ended up leading the team with eight total tackles.

Stock down – EDGE T.J. Watt

Sorry but when you sign a ridiculously huge offseason contract because you want to be considered the top pass rusher in the NFL, you have to rush the passer. Watt had five tackles but didn’t get a sack or even a quarterback hit.

Stock up – CB Jalen Ramsey

Ramsey was pushed to outside cornerback when Joey Porter Jr. went out and he ended up being the guy who broke up the pass that sealed the win for the Steelers.

Stock down – The defensive line

The blame for this performance can be spread around. This group, regardless of the combination, got pushed around with Jets running back Breece Hall rushing for 107 yards and quarterback Justin Fields getting 48 more.
