New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson looked a lot like Daniel Jones on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. He was shellshocked early after taking several big hits, and spent most of the game running for his life.
Wilson closed out the Week 1 loss, completing just 17 of his 37 pass attempts for 168 yards, while taking two sacks.

For the Giants, it was the same thing they saw with Jones under center. And the same thing they saw with Tyrod Taylor, Davis Webb, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle under center. No matter the face at quarterback, the results have all been the same.
Perhaps it wasn’t the quarterback, after all.
Drilling that reality home was the performance of Jones in his Indianapolis Colts debut on Sunday. It was the first time he had taken a regular-season snap for a team other than the Giants, and the results could not have been more contrasting.
Jones completed 22 of his 29 pass attempts for 272 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed the ball seven times for 26 yards and two additional touchdowns. He did not have a turnover and took just one sack.

Notably, Jones also relied on the deep ball, something those in New York felt he had lost. He generated several explosive plays and had four passes go for 20-plus yards. He recorded 0.40 EPA per dropback and a total of 13.1 EPA on dropbacks, which were among the best of his career.
Most impressive was the history Jones carved out on Sunday.
NFL Network’s Scott Hanson reported on the Week 1 “NFL RedZone” broadcast that Jones was the first quarterback of this century to lead his team to points on every single possession of the game.
Additionally, Indianapolis had not won a season-opener since 2013.

Much like running back Saquon Barkley before him, Jones appears to be enjoying life away from East Rutherford.
