Well, it’s Groundhog Day…again. That line isn’t just appropriate because Bill Murray was featured on the Manningcast of the Chicago Bears Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, but because they blew yet another lead in the fourth quarter that resulted in a loss.
The Bears built an early lead against Minnesota, leading 17-6 at one point in the second half. But Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy rebounded in a big way and put up 21 unanswered points to win 27-24. All while Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who was rock solid in the first half, crumbled under pressure by missing multiple receivers. A game that was trending towards being a huge positive in head coach Ben Johnson’s first game became a nightmare that featured poor penalties, missed kicks, and breakdowns at nearly every level.
Sadly, it’s an experience Bears fans are all too familiar with. The excitement following a big offseason slowly waned, and many are left wondering how certain issues get fixed, from arguing over general manager Ryan Poles to having deep concerns surrounding Williams.
NFL world reacts to Bears’ brutal loss to the Vikings
I gave Justin Fields until midway through Year 3 before I gave up hope. You have to accelerate that timeline for Caleb Williams given what’s around him.
Too early to give up on Caleb now. But this level of play won’t fly if he’s gonna be the franchise QB of the #Bears.

That game had a very week 1 2019 feel to it for Caleb Williams. That’s when it was obvious Trubisky wasn’t it.
There’s still time left for Chicago’s latest 1st round QB to change the narrative, but there’s no sugarcoating that’s the narrative right now.

It would be more painful if only there weren’t approximately 75 Bears games from the last 20 years to compare this to.

I do think I will give Ben Johnson more than a game to heal a city’s 40-year football trauma.

Tonight is a perfect example of why I stopped making content. This team is unbelievably frustrating.
Same old Bears.

This is a work in progress but that was a rough start for Caleb Williams
Doesn’t mean he’s cooked but it does mean that he has to play much better
He’s not the only one but he’s the most important one

How in the world did Poles get that extension??

The Bears are losing, DJ Moore is hurt, Tyson Bagent is trending. A bad scene at Soldier Field.

Ben Johnson is the next trestman

This is like a whole Bears season wrapped up in one game

That sucked a lot. Also JJ McCarthy is a gamer. He was in hell first half and absolutely dominated in the second half. Football is dumb.

This feels more like the start of 2019 than I’m comfortable admitting
