ASHBURN, Va. (7NEWS) — It’s back to the grind for the Washington Commanders.
Short week, but a big opportunity on Thursday night to show the entire NFL that this team is not simply a one-year wonder.
The Commanders are moving up a weight class, traveling to face the Green Bay Packers.

Both teams 1-0. Both teams feature talented, young quarterbacks.
The excitement is building for Thursday at Lambeau Field.
“It’s going to be a heavyweight bout,” Commanders defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw told 7News Sports Director Scott Abraham. “I look forward to the heavyweight games. The ice bag games. I look forward to it.”
Washington will get reintroduced to Micah Parsons. The All-Pro defensive end used to play for the Dallas Cowboys. That ended 11 days ago when the Cowboys traded Parsons to Green Bay.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is all too familiar with Parsons. The two were in Dallas together when Quinn was the defensive coordinator.
Quinn understands that Washington has to somehow find a way to slow down Parsons.
“Speed. In Dallas, he was one of our fastest players, so that’s the hardest thing to simulate for an offensive tackle to see the first couple, two or three steps,” Quinn said. “It’s not at a speed that you can simulate in a practice rep. So, that would be like early on I think there’s been some rushes that he could surprise some people if you haven’t faced him, knowing that he can really jump off the ball.”
Washington hasn’t won at Lambeau Field since 1988. Thursday’s game will kick off at 8:15 p.m.
