Girls high school flag football returns to Arizona’s Family Sports

  • September 10, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Girls’ high school flag football made history in its inaugural season in Arizona. Now, the sport is back for a big third year, and you’ll be able to watch it on Arizona’s Family Sports.

The Arizona Cardinals were the first in the NFL to produce and broadcast a weekly flag football game last year. And now the “Game Of The Week,” presented by State Farm, is back for a second round.

“The excitement in our first year was palpable,” said Debbie Bush, VP and general manager for Arizona’s Family. “We are excited to continue to shine a light on these young women as they blaze a trail for those coming behind them.”

For this season, Arizona’s Family Sports (AZFS) will air eight games beginning on Sept. 16 and concluding on Nov. 5. Each match-up will have a fully produced 90-minute broadcast complete with play-by-play analysis.

The games will also air on AZCardinals.com and the Arizona Cardinals’ app. Reairings of the games will also be shown on Saturdays on AZFS throughout the season.

Arizona is one of 17 states where girls’ flag football is a sanctioned high school sport. In 2023, 57 schools participated in the inaugural season. According to the Arizona Interscholastic Association, that number has grown to 136 schools for the 2025 season.

The Cardinals were also the first NFL team to host events and clinics at an NFL stadium, establishing a partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance in 2024. The team also pledged $70,000 to help support girls’ flag football in the state and eliminate gender inequity in youth sports.
