It’s been a lopsided record historically for the Cardinals against the Panthers, as Carolina holds a 15-6 record. It has been years of built-up frustration, and Arizona has an opportunity to let that out on Sunday at State Farm Stadium.

Cardinals fans might remember the 2015 and 2016 NFL seasons when the Cardinals were defeated in back-to-back years in the Wild Card Playoffs and then the NFC Championship. The lasting images of Cam Newton still haunt many Arizona fans, and that is just the beginning. Last season, the Carolina Panthers defeated the Cardinals in week 16 in an overtime battle by a score of 36-30. Bryce Young was able to keep up his momentum at the end of last season and ended the Cardinals’ chances of making the playoffs.

This could be an entirely different matchup, as in week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, the Panthers were completely trounced by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Carolina slowly fell back into their rebuilding ways and looked like the same team that surrounded Bryce Young in his rookie year. The Cardinals will have a picture-perfect opportunity to not only gain some momentum at the beginning of the season and remain undefeated, but also get some payback for all of the times that the Panthers have screwed the Cardinals out of contention.
