NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans City Council officially proclaimed Thursday, May 8, as Cam Jordan Day, honoring the longtime Saints defensive end for his contributions to the city both on and off the football field.
Jordan, joined by his wife and children, received a warm welcome at City Hall with a performance from the Edna Karr High School band and a special plaque presentation.
Councilmembers praised his philanthropic efforts and connection to the New Orleans community.
“It’s officially #CamJordanDay!! Let’s goooooo!!!” Jordan posted on social media.
Inside council chambers, Jordan addressed the crowd with a heartfelt speech filled with gratitude.
“My cup has been overflowed,” he said. “Being drafted has been an amazing feeling. Having a dad that played in the league has been an amazing feeling. Being able to find my wife in the streets of New Orleans has been amazing. Us having our little magnolias, what I call them, my little magnolia monsters, all four of our children has been nothing short of an amazing blessing.”
He also quoted 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to bless you abundantly so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Jordan thanked his wife, children, Saints owner Gayle Benson, and the organization for supporting his efforts throughout his career.
Gayle Benson just listed Cam Jordan’s accomplishments and specifically emphasized how many times he sacked Matt Ryan.

“I hope I’m in New Orleans for another thousand years,” Jordan told the City Council. “I love this community.”
Jordan, who was drafted by the Saints in 2011, has become not only a leader on the field but also a fixture in local charitable work, youth mentorship, and community outreach.
