But before we even get to kickoff, there will be a lot of Jets-related discussions and conversations to be had throughout the coming days.

With that, here are five storylines to watch for during the lead up to Jets against the Buffalo Bills:

While the Pittsburgh Steelers took the 34-32 win over the Jets in Week 1, that’s not the main takeaway from the contest. The focus from that one is quarterback Justin Fields. The stats don’t even matter, he looked good, can Fields play well again?

Despite the Bills being the favorite and fresh off an incredible 41-40 comeback victory against the Ravens, Buffalo did struggle mightily against a dual-threat quarterback in Week 1. That could bode well for Fields ad the Jets.

Sticking on the quarterback position, that comeback the Bills had involved Josh Allen… a lot.

While the Bills struggled against their opposing QB in Week 1, so did the Jets… and now it’s time for a much bigger challenge in Allen on Sunday. He nearly threw for 400 yards in Buffalo’s season opener… and had four total touchdowns.

In a surprise move, the Jets released return man Xavier Gipson after his fumble in Week 1.

So who steps into that role?

The Jets have options, including elevating Jamaal Pritchett and Keilan Robinson from the practice squad. The on-roster options such as Isaiah Davis and Arian Smith lack experience.

Along with Fields being a dual-threat issue for the Bills, just the ground game in general could be. Jets running back Breece Hall surpassed 100 yards in Week 1 (107) and Ravens running back Derrick Henry blew things up in Buffalo in Week 1.
