FRISCO — CeeDee Lamb said he couldn’t sleep.

He spent the entire weekend thinking about a four-drop performance in the Cowboys’ season opener in a loss to the Eagles.

The day after the game, Lamb was at The Star catching passes off the JUGS Machine, something he didn’t want anybody to know about.

The Cowboys receiver holds himself to a high standard, and despite catching seven passes for 110 yards on 13 targets, there were three dropped passes in the fourth quarter.

“That wasn’t supposed to go viral,” he said Thursday about the JUGS Machine exercise. “I wasn’t doing that for no internet to be honest. So I came in on a day when nobody was in the building and I still caught a camera. I didn’t even know that the camera was there, shout out to them. As for me bro, it’s going back to my fundamentals. I know what it is. I know what to do. Again, it’s Game 1, we got 16 more of these. Go back to 2023 season, it wasn’t drops, it was lack of production and then it was this big hoorah and then boom. Just keeping the main thing, the main thing and continue to be myself. Continue to grind and I’ll let the work do the talking.”

CeeDee Lamb talks about his four drop performance

Lamb is one of the more talented players in the league at his position and the Cowboys, whether it’s coach Brian Schottenheimer or teammates, didn’t express any concern.

Yet, Lamb is concerned.

“I didn’t get any rest,” he said, “really that whole weekend, again that’s the competitor that I am and how much I’m true to the game as far as being honest and just giving it everything I got because I do love this game. I love this squad and I love the guys that I do it with. As for me, just holding my end of the bargain and just pulling through for the guys.”

Last season, Lamb had a three-drop performance against the Giants. He finished that game with just two catches for 20 yards on six targets.

In the next game, Lamb caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Sunday, the Cowboys have their home opener against the Giants, and if he produces a good game, most will forget about what happened in Week 1.

“Just relax. Take a deep breath,” he said. “Let the game come to me and then when it does, take over. It’s obviously simple to say and harder to do, but for me, I feel like if I keep it that simple, it’ll work out.”
