Chicago Bears sign kicker Jake Moody
Jake Moody was released by the 49ers after a rough first week of the 2025 season. The former third-round pick missed field goal attempts from 27 yards and 36 yards. This led to San Francisco signing veteran kicker Eddy Pineiro to the active roster on a one-year deal.
Less than a week as a free agent, Moody found a new team to sign with. On Friday, he inked a deal with the Chicago Bears to join the team’s practice squad, NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted to social media on Friday.

He will join the Bears and compete with current starting kicker Cairo Santos for the top spot on the roster.
Santos, 33, failed to hit a field goal from 50 yards out in the Bears’ 27-24 Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. The failed attempt seemed to be the difference, as the Vikings scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come back and win the game.
It will be interesting to see who will come out of the kicking competition in Chicago. between Jake Moody and Cairo Santos.
