Green Bay Packers fans still learning about newcomer Micah Parsons might have yet to stumble on his podcast, “The Edge,” which he operates in the offseason with support from Bleacher Report.

Bleacher Report also produced a brief video series called “The Edge: Micah and CJ Take Tokyo,” when Parsons joined Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud on a visit to Japan in summer 2024.

That included the two of them battling with sumo wrestlers. And it didn’t go all that great for Parsons.

The video explained that the sumo wrestlers in the video were mostly apprentices and not yet professionals. Parsons and Stroud watched practice and then went through a crash-course training on the movements.

Parsons was unable to make much progress against a couple of his foes, including one wrestler who Parsons later discovered was only 17 years old. It wasn’t all for naught, though; Parsons did eventually move one of his opponents outside the circle.

“I feel like I can compete (in) my weight class,” Parsons said in the video. “It’s their core and their lower half (that makes them so strong). It’s different because in football, you’re going with momentum. You’re coming with no momentum (in sumo wrestling), you’re going from straight ground to power. I would say they’re for sure stronger. When they anchor, they anchor.”

The NFL stars then dined with the wrestlers. The video series also included the two players throwing out a first pitch at a Japanese baseball game in the Tokyo Dome and riding go-karts.

Parsons seems to have a great rapport with stars all over the NFL, many of whom are guests on his podcast. Jordan Love was one such guest last year, when he “recruited” Parsons to Green Bay.
