Baltimore, MD (WBFF) — Thousands of people are expected to be in Baltimore City on Sunday for the Ravens home opener at M&T Bank Stadium.
Federal Hill is one of the most popular districts for fans to watch.
About a month ago, the Baltimore Police Department announced the launch of its new Entertainment District Unit, designed to help reduce crime and address quality-of-life concerns.
According to BPD, the Unit will operate in neighborhoods such as Federal Hill, the Inner Harbor, Harbor Point, and Fells Point.
The Department said responsibilities include proactive parking and traffic enforcement, addressing dirt bike activity, seizing illegal firearms, conducting business checks, and issuing citations for open container violations and other quality-of-life concerns.
Some residents and even city leaders called for more to be done after a number of incidents occurred in some of these entertainment districts.
Back in July, a mother was shot on South Charles Street while out celebrating her birthday.

Investigators said they did not believe she was the intended target, and later released surveillance images of the suspects.
No arrests have been made.
Businesses have also been impacted, including Moo-Moo’s Ice Cream on Light Street in Federal Hill last month.
Surveillance footage captured the small business being targeted by vandals for the second time in two weeks.
Most recently, BPD put out surveillance images of a suspect who they say ran over an officer while attempting to flee a traffic stop in Federal Hill.

Law enforcement expert Jason Johnson said actions, like an entertainment unit, are necessary to restore a sense of safety.
“It’s critical,” said Johnson. “I think sometimes the City government is criticized for putting resources in areas that are prone to visitors, people from outside the City such as Federal Hill. “But iif people are afraid to do that because of the perception, you’ll be the victim of a violent crime then people aren’t going to do it.”
FOX45 News reached out to the Department and asked if any additional actions or safety precautions would be taken in the City for Sunday’s game.
