It was a Homecoming win for the Plainview Bears as they defeated DAR 55-14 Friday night. 

DAR received the opening kickoff, and Plainview’s defense forced a very quick turnover on downs.

On the Bears’ first play from scrimmage, Brody Hodges ran 58 58-yard a TD run, but it was called back due to a Plainview holding penalty.

The Plainview offense plowed through the Patriot defense with the running game, and Hodges capped the first drive with a 5-yard rushing TD. After the extra point, the Bears took a 7-0 lead. 

The next DAR drive ended with a Sawyer Wilborn intercept to give Plainview great field position at the 50-yard line. And on the first play of the Plainview drive, Owen Hope connects with Kristopher Sandlin on a 50-yard TD pass to give the Bears a 14-0 lead.

On the next drive for DAR, the Bears’ defense forced a fumble, and Sandlin for Plainview picked up the ball and scored from 15 yards out. Plainview took a 21-0 lead into the second quarter. 

DAR finally had a drive to end with something other than a turnover. 

The Patriots were forced to punt after the Plainview defense stopped them again. 

On the first drive of the second quarter for Plainview, Hope completed two passes to lead the Bears down the field again. The drive ended with a screen pass to Brayden Lingerfelt that went 15 yards for a touchdown. Plainview took a 28-0 lead. 

Brody Feeney sacked DAR’s quarterback for a huge loss and forced another DAR  punt. A poor punt by DAR gave Plainview excellent field position in DAR territory. 

The Bears’ offense continued to dominate as Hope scored untouched on a Quarterback keeper from 24 yards out to give Plainview a 35-0 lead.

DAR fumbles on its next possession and is recovered by Lingerfelt, who returned it inside the DAR 5-yard line.

Plainview’s  Rylan Guess scored from two yards out, and after the extra point was no good, the Bears took a 41-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the Plainview coaching staff had the chance to play some younger players to give them experience in a varsity game.

Sawyer Henderson replaced Hope as quarterback and found Will Jackson for a 13-yard touchdown pass. After the extra point, the Bears’ lead was 48-0. These are the only points of the third quarter. 

DAR scored early in the fourth quarter and converted a 2-point play to make the score 48-8. 

Henderson scored again for Plainview this time with his legs, a 22-yard touchdown run, and after the extra point, Plainview led 55-8. 

DAR added one more touchdown late in the game. 

For Plainview, Brody Hodges finished with 68 rushing yards and a TD, Major Ledbetter had 24 yards rushing, and Guess had a rushing TD. 

Owen Hope finished 5-6 for 101 yards and 2-TDs in the air, along with 24 yards rushing and a TD. 

Sawyer Henderson went 1-2 for 12 yards and a TD in the air and had 20 yards rushing and a TD. 

Receiving, Sandlin had 42 yards and a TD, Lingerfelt had 15 yards and a TD, and Jackson had 12 yards and a TD. 

On Defense, Sandlin had a fumble return for a TD, Lingerfelt and Stephen Crowell each had a fumble recovery, and Sawyer Wilborn had an Interception. 

Plainview moves to 3-0 (3-0) on the year and will host Class-2A No.3 Pisgah Friday night.
