Drake Maye is getting praise from one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.

The New England Patriots are hoping that Drake Maye, their third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is the franchise quarterback they need in returning to their AFC dynasty days.

Maye, who shined during his two years as UNC’s starting quarterback, looks every part of New England’s franchise guy. Thrust into his first start against the Houston Texans in 2024, Maye turned heads with his 243 passing yards and three scores.

Now in his second as a professional quarterback, Maye is hoping to take that leap and lead New England back to the postseason. Maye might not be a star yet, but he recently received a glowing endorsement from Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills‘ starting quarterback and reigning NFL MVP.

“I’ve formed a good relationship with Drake Maye,” Allen said during a recent interview on the ‘Like a Farmer’ podcast. “I got to spend some time with him this offseason. An unbelievable guy. He’s a bright kid, he can spin the heck out of the ball. He moves well. He seems like a kid that is only him.”

Maye and his Patriots teammates lost their Week 1 clash to the Las Vegas Raiders, 20-13, but Maye threw for 287 yards and a touchdown. Maye will try to lead New England to its first 2025 win this coming weekend, with a Sunday afternoon trip to face the Miami Dolphins on tap.

Allen, who anchored Buffalo to a thrilling, Week 1 comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens, will first face Maye and the Patriots on Sunday, October 5 in Western New York. New England then hosts Buffalo on December 14, setting up the potential for a high-stakes AFC battle during holiday season.

As Maye grows throughout his NFL career, except him to receive more endorsements like this one from Allen. Can Maye be “that guy” in Year 2?
