New York Jets starting quarterback Justin Fields left the team’s Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills early due to a possible concussion. Fields was evaluated on the sideline before walking to the locker room with the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant, per reports.
Once Tyrod Taylor entered the game, the Jets confirmed Fields was being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Fields appeared to sustain the injury on a fourth-quarter sack by Bills pass rusher Joey Bosa. Fields fumbled the ball on the play but the Jets were able to recover the ball and punt on fourth down.

It was a frustrating game for Fields prior to the injury. The 26-year-old was just 3-for-11 for 27 yards when he left the game. Fields was more successful on the ground, where he gained 49 yards on five scrambles. Fields also lost a fumble during the contest. The Jets were down 30-3 at the time Fields was injured.
With the game out of hand, Taylor was able to get the offense moving. He quickly surpassed Fields’ yardage total and managed to throw a touchdown with under four minutes left to play.
