Brendan O’Sullivan provides his top player prop bets for Monday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans matchup.
Week 2 features a Monday Night Football doubleheader. The first of two games is between the Buccaneers and Texans.
Houston is a 2.5-point favorite and -135 on the moneyline, while Tampa Bay is +114 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 42.5 points.

Here are my three favorite player props for this Week 2 NFL game between the Buccaneers and Texans.
Texans vs. Buccaneers vs. Bears Best Prop Bets
Baker Mayfield over 32.5 pass attempts (-122)
The Buccaneers are in year three with Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback. It’s been a positive stretch that’s included two NFC South titles and two playoff appearances.
Mayfield has been consistent over these years, becoming the best version of himself. Regardless of personnel around him, he’s been consistent. He passes a lot and also turns the ball over at a high rate. Last season, he led the NFL with 16 interceptions despite throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns.
He’s even more incentivized to throw this season after the franchise selected Emeka Egbuka in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. A receiving duo of Egbuka and Mike Evans is lethal, and the corps will only get stronger when Chris Godwin Jr. and Jalen McMillan return from injury.
With just Egbuka and Evans in Week 1, Mayfield threw 32 passes. He’s going to be around that mark again and should surpass it. He hit the over in seven of 17 games last year, but he only had two games with fewer than 26 passing attempts. Mayfield will come close, and in a primetime game, it’s likely he shows out.
Emeka Egbuka over 4.5 receptions (-104)
Egbuka impressed in his NFL debut, catching four of six targets for 67 yards and two touchdowns. The two scores were the highlights, especially for fantasy owners, but his other stats were also positives.
The Buccaneers will have a crowded wide receiver corps once Godwin and McMillan return from injury. Until then, Egbuka can take advantage of more opportunities to prove why he’s worthy of being a long-term top receiver on the team.
His six targets in Week 1 tied for second most on the team with Sterling Shepard. Evans led the team with eight targets. It’s promising to see such a great connection between the rookie and Mayfield in Week 1, and that bond is bound to grow.
As mentioned before, Mayfield will pass the ball often just as he did in Week 1 and all of 2024. It’s likely Egbuka gets even more targets this week after a strong debut.
C.J. Stroud over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+134)
After a poor Week 1 showing, the Texans should bounce back Monday night against the Buccaneers. Whether they a win or not is to be determined, but they should score more than a measly nine points.
Houston scored three field goals in Week 1, so its first touchdown of 2025 has yet to come. C.J. Stroud should take care of that problem early against Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers allowed 298 passing yards to Michael Penix Jr. in Week 1, so it’s not ridiculous to believe Stroud can do that, too.
Rather than betting on the yards, Stroud’s over/under 1.5 passing touchdowns line is set at +134. While the team struggled in Week 1, the Buccaneers shouldn’t have as stifling of a defense as the Rams. It’s time for Stroud to answer the call and get the Texans on the board.
