The Seattle Seahawks ended up dominating the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday, but it wasn’t always as smooth as the final 31-17 score might indicate. After scoring a touchdown on the opening drive – snapping a 22-game streak of not doing so – the Seahawks offense went dormant for the rest of the first half. A blocked field goal and two interceptions thrown by Darnold kept Seattle at 7 points.

However, once the second half started, the necessary adjustments were made and the Seahawks were a well-oiled machine to close things out. Similar to the start of the game, Darnold engineered another touchdown drive which ended with him finding AJ Barner for the score. Darnold didn’t just tie the game up at 14-14 with his touchdown strike, he also reached an important career milestone:

Darnold now officially has thrown 100 touchdown passes at the NFL level.

It’s been a long and winding journey for Darnold to get to this point. Originally the No. 3 overall pick by the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL draft, Darnold’s career in the Big Apple flamed out… as most Jets quarterbacks do. Darnold had 17 and 19 touchdown passes during his first two seasons, and from there, never sniffed double digits again. At least, not until last season, when Darnold exploded for 35 touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings.

Sam Darnold’s career stats are now as follows:

61.4% completion percentage
