Will one of the Carolina Panthers‘ 2025 draft picks finally jimmy himself into the team’s plans moving forward?
Head coach Dave Canales chatted with reporters following Wednesday’s practice for their Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. He was asked about the progress of wideout Jimmy Horn Jr., who was a healthy scratch in both of the first two regular-season outings.

“Yeah, we’re evaluating Jimmy every week,” Canales replied. “And he’s just gotta continue to grow and wait for his opportunity. And it’s a full team thing. Where does he fit? How does he fit? And that’s the part that Dan [Morgan] and I and the coaching staff talk about weekly.”
Carolina selected Horn in the sixth round this past spring. The speedy receiver would immediately impress during spring workouts, showing off an explosive element the Panthers offense has lacked for some time.
Over his three preseason performances, Horn reeled in six receptions for 29 yards. He also recorded one rushing attempt for six yards and fielded five kickoffs at an average of 17.6 yards.
The Panthers are currently carrying a total of seven wide receivers on their active roster along with Horn—including fellow 2025 pick Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Hunter Renfrow, Brycen Tremayne, David Moore and Dalevon Campbell. Campbell, an undrafted rookie, was also inactive in Weeks 1 and 2.
