With Khalil Mack heading to injured reserve, the Chargers worked out edge defenders Clelin Ferrell and Rashad Weaver on Wednesday, per the transaction wire.
Selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, Ferrell played four seasons with them. In 2023, he played with the 49ers. This past season, Ferrell was a member of the Commanders. Across seven seasons, he has appeared in 87 games (59 starts) and has logged 159 tackles, 25 for loss and 17 sacks.

Weaver was selected by the Titans in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. After playing for Tennessee from 2021 to 2023, he had stints with the Texans (2024), Rams (2024), and Jets (2025), primarily as an offseason or practice squad member. In four seasons, Weaver has amassed 49 tackles, 11 for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Mack will be out for at least the next four games.
