After failing to score a touchdown in their season opener, the New York Giants had an offensive explosion in Week 2, putting up 37 points in a tough overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Quarterback Russell Wilson had one of the best games of his entire career, going 31-of-41 for 450 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

Unfortunately, on both of the Giants’ overtime possessions, Wilson had drive-killing mistakes, including an interception intended for Malik Nabers on the team’s final drive, which gave Dallas the ball to score the game-winning field goal.
Nabers, who also had an impressive day and linked up with Wilson for two of the Giants’ three passing touchdowns on the day, took responsibility for the late-game inception in overtime.
“That’s my fault. I should have been in more communication with Russ to know what we were trying to do,” Nabers told reporters on Wednesday. “I was locked in on trying to figure out how the defense was playing me at the time, and I wasn’t really looking at the right time for him to give me what he gave me to try to change the run-up. That’s 100% my fault. I should have been in communication with Russ the whole time.”
Nabers initially said he wouldn’t put it on himself, but quickly changed his answer as he played the moment back over in his head. Wilson had received significant criticism for the throw in recent days.

Still, if Week 2 is any indication of the overall chemistry between Wilson and Nabers, the sophomore receiver may surpass the success he had in his rookie season. Although Nabers has made it clear that he cares more about the team winning than he does about his personal stats.
The quarterback-receiver duo will look to learn from their mistake in overtime moving forward. However, it is nice to see Nabers showing support and taking some heat off his quarterback for the overtime miscue.
